NATIONAL FIRST AID TRAINING

National First Aid Training (NFAT), endeavour to share our knowledge and experience to train people in life saving skills. We provide a safe and approachable place for people to learn and to work together to save lives.

Through our experience in work and particularly in our day-to-day life, we have identified the increased need for early intervention in the community setting for a person experiencing cardiac arrest.

Our team have been involved in training for several years and are both Qualified Registered Nurses and Emergency Medical Technicians.

Our courses are accredited by the Irish Heart Foundation and Pre-Hospital Emergency Care Council.

FACTS

As early CPR is strongly associated with increased survival with favourable neurological outcome, first responder systems have become a critical component of the initial links in the chain of survival (Guy et al., 2020).

2,906 out -of-hospital cardiac arrest incidents were recorded as treated by Emergency Medical Service, 74% of these happened in the home, 85% Bystander CPR attempted however, 6.7% of patients had defibrillation attempted pre EMS arrival (OHCAR, 2021).

Since 2012, bystander CPR has increased from 60% to 85% (OHCAR, 2021).

97% of survivors were recorded as having a good neurological outcome (OHCAR, 2021).
